Conversations
Speaking in codes, there are animated conversations
because the spine is the only force strong enough
to constrain the paginated enthusiasm.
Raising voices in competition to the neighbour
nestled neatly, and vertically against each other;
it gets rather loud in the library.
And only when the spines crack will the volume
spin off the dial, and nothing else can be
heard in the world.

what I like about your poetry is that it always sounds intelligent and articulate...
often wordy in a sense that makes me go "hmmm."
I think the best line is "it gets rather loud in the library." It is so simple clear and obvious that it almost sounds coloquial after words such as "paginated."
Reminds me of how Yeats would just drop coloquialisms into his very serious poetry.
i'm not even sure if my intention is for readers to go "hmmmm look at the words" .. hope it isn't distracting to other elements of the poem.
yikes-just read it again with that comment in mind, and i sound so pompous (my words are tripping over my ego, or other way around?!?)
